RFB Presents 1st Thursdays at The Well is pleased to bring you another evening of what Brooklyn sounds likes.
Our June 7th show is an official Northside Festival show featuring local hip-hop artists Mikal Amin, Wisdom Natural, TK The Architect and the inaugural performance of Junk Rat.
Mikal Amin proves true power moves riots. Mikal Amin also known as The Hired Gun is an interdisciplinary hip-hop artist and educator manifesting music and message since 2000. A veteran of eleven international tours including extensive work as a State Department Cultural Ambassador through the American Music Abroad program, and as the Artistic Director for the Harlem Biennele “Our Better Angels” project in 2012.
Wisdom Natural – Born June 28th, 1991. The Bronx Native, celebrates her 25th Birthday by dropping her 1st EP “Divine Timing.” As a former member of the dynamic duo Arcane Potential, Wisdom is now introducing and developing self written material from which she has been influenced by.
“Wisdom comes from experience. I only rap about what I’ve been through first hand, or what I’ve witnessed happening. I’m not for everybody, and that’s ok. My music is my fossil and when am long gone, it will speak for me.”
TK The Architect – TK The Architect has spent his life finding a balance. Raised in New York by his Japanese mother and Italian-American father, TK (born Zach Takayuki Zanghi) grew up in a bilingual household. His new album, Blue Season, is a representation of his self-awareness and ability to bridge different worlds. “I genuinely feel that no one could have made this record but me,” says Zanghi, who recorded a majority of the record in his bedroom on Long Island and in his house upstate. “This is the first time I found a way to connect everything I do, as a musician/producer and as an MC.”
Junk Rat – Ever see Possums eating trash out the trash can? Well… picture them with instruments and you get Kenny Truhn and Fiance Suzanne Burkhardt. For the longest time singer/songwriter Kenny was his own entity and had played tons of shows both solo and some with whatever friends were available to back him. Now it’s something different. Something that means a lot more. The sound has evolved from the depths of the bayou to the swamps at Tamoka. Kenny has finally found his true sound with the help from his beautiful soulmate/trash queen Suzanne Burkhardt. Suzanne who is classically trained on piano and viola met Kenny on Tinder by sheer chance. The two were inseparable as they would soon figure out that they can communicate with their instruments and voodoo. Their Swampy/Alternative/Soul Sound is New and Fresh and is expecting a full length album due out this Fall
