RFB Presents 1st Thursdays at The Well is pleased to bring you another evening of what Brooklyn sounds likes.
Featuring the queer country of Karen & The Sorrows, the alt-folk, alt-country, and Americana of The Nightmare River Band plus the post-punk, skronky-tonkers Tatters & Rags it’s going to be a evening of music unlike any other. Bring your dancing shoes!
Karen & The Sorrows
Brooklyn alt-country band Karen & the Sorrows “write loss and heartbreak, and goddamn are they good at it.” (F*** Yeah, Queer Music). Queer country pioneers, The Sorrows co-founded the Gay Ole Opry, the first ever queer country music festival, and host the popular Queer Country Quarterly, helping to build new community for people who love country music even if country music doesn’t always love them back.
The Nightmare River Band
Making music about “love, loss, pain, drinking and healing,” although not necessarily in that order, The Nightmare River Band was named one of the Top 5 up and coming Alt-Folk bands in NYC by The Deli Magazine in 2010. Crowds of revelers have been quick to join the party, clamoring to shout along the lyrics with drinks clutched in their hands.
Tatters & Rags
Tatters & Rags have been playing since 2008, at times being a drone post-punk folk band, other times being a sweaty, whiskey-fueled electric honky-tonk band. Fans of the band state that their eclecticism is part of their charm, and it’s always accompanied by a frenetic energy that makes them one of the most exciting live bands in New York City.
Doors at 8:00 PM and music starts at 8:30 PM.
Tickets are $8 when purchased in advance and $10 at the door, so get your tickets today!
